The SunSmart Shade Creation Initiative

What Is The SunSmart Shade Creation Initiative?

The SunSmart Shade Creation Initiative is a new grant developed by Cancer Council Queensland and the Queensland Department of Health. It is designed to help not-for-profit organisations attain high-quality shade solutions to keep children protected from the sun when outdoors. The grant provides funding for 75 percent of the total cost of the project, up to a maximum of $20,000. It is a fantastic opportunity for eligible organisations to secure funding for their necessary projects.

 

Who Is Eligible For The Grant?

The grant is eligible for not-for-profit organisations in Queensland that cater to children ranging from 0 to 18 years of age. Here is the list provided by Cancer Council Queensland:

 

  • Not for profit Queensland organisations and facilities that provide services for children aged 0-18 years
  • Early Childhood Centres
  • Primary and Secondary Schools (inc. private and independent)
  • Junior Sporting organisations
  • OSHC
  • Youth Community Groups
  • Have not received funding from us in the last two years
  • Highly encourage anyone from the North West HHS, Central Queensland HHS, Darling
  • Downs HHS, Sunshine Coast HHS, Townsville HHS, South West HHS and Central West HHS

 

What Can You Use The Grant For?

The grant is designed to provide funding for permanent shade solutions. This can include permanent shade sails. When Will You Find Out If Your Application Is Successful?
